Mission Hills Residence

Mission Hills Residence | A Contemporary Tudor Retreat
Mission Hills, KS

Mission Hills boasts a pedigree of homes unmatched across the Greater Kansas City metro. With its established tree-lined streets and rich architectural history, designing a home in this iconic neighborhood is as much about understanding its context and history as it is about the family it will serve.

The clients envisioned a contemporary take on the Tudor style, tailored to their growing family’s needs and designed to host large gatherings both indoors and outdoors. They also prioritized incorporating all the modern amenities of today’s homes.

The home is composed of two simple gabled forms: one containing the primary suite and the other housing the garage, kitchen, dining area, and additional bedrooms. These volumes are connected by a grand living hall with vaulted ceilings, offering access to the rear lanai, the stair hall, and the entry foyer.

At the rear, a covered lanai opens to the outdoors through a series of double doors from the living hall. The primary suite also enjoys access to a private patio, with both spaces stepping down to a modest terrace surrounding the pool and raised hot tub. A detached, split-level cabana supports the outdoor living experience, with its upper level offering a bar and grilling station, while the lower-level houses pool equipment and an outdoor bath with shower for guests
