Reinhardt Residence

The Reinhardt Residence | A Ranch Reimagined
Prairie Village, KS

The clients loved their existing 1950s ranch home but found it increasingly insufficient for their growing family. Situated on a modest lot in a single-block street, the home lacked the modern amenities they needed.

Utilizing the existing footprint, we developed a plan that includes a new primary suite on the main level, which frames the existing rear outdoor space. This space now features a pergola for shade from the harsh western sun and a central fireplace for cool Midwestern evenings.

We added a second level to more than half of the home, creating a dedicated space for the children with extra bedrooms, bathrooms, and a play loft to keep things organized. The exterior design was inspired by the original ranch style and nearby homes, ensuring the project fit naturally into the neighborhood. Horizontal design elements maintain the classic “rambling ranch” look, while a relocated stairway with new brick cladding and an asymmetrical roofline creates an eye-catching entryway.
