The new owners of this custom-designed family home wanted to enhance its functionality by expanding the garage and adding an office. The existing home featured many durable “100-year materials,” such as full-thickness stone, slate shingles, copper gutters, and steel windows, and we aimed to match that quality in the addition. Despite the property line constraints, including a dedicated drainage easement, we successfully replicated the existing garage’s massing and detailing, adding two more garage spaces with a private office and bathroom above. The linkage between the existing and new garage volumes creates a perfect workshop space for the new owners.
