Concord Residence

Concord Residence | Restoring History
Kansas City, MO

The South Plaza area of Kansas City is known for its stately, historic homes, many of which range widely in condition. When the new owner purchased this residence, it was clear that years of neglect had taken their toll. The home suffered from significant wood rot, water intrusion, and a compartmentalized layout that no longer suited the young owner’s modern lifestyle.

Collaborating closely with the owner, we developed a thoughtful plan to restore and reimagine the home, bringing it back to life while respecting its historic character. Key updates included an expanded kitchen that opens onto a rear deck with oversized sliding doors, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. The primary suite was enlarged to provide a more functional and luxurious retreat, and the top level was transformed into a state-of-the-art home theater. Additionally, a new detached garage was added to the property—something the home had never had before.

The design artfully blends historic elements with contemporary touches, resulting in a timelessly eclectic home that feels both rooted in its past and perfectly suited for today. This beautifully restored residence has earned recognition for its thoughtful transformation.
