Grand Hall Event Space

The Grand Hall Event Space | Historic Grandeur Meets Modern Design
Kansas City, MO

As part of the ongoing renovation and adaptive reuse of the iconic Power & Light Apartments, the developer sought to reimagine the building’s two-story street-level space as one of the largest and most elegant event venues in downtown Kansas City.

Collaborating with NorthPoint Development, we crafted a design that transformed the historic space into a 500-seat event venue, complete with bride and groom suites, new restrooms, a coat check, a full bar, and a catering kitchen. Central to the vision was the restoration of the space’s original ornate plasterwork, which now serves as a dramatic focal point, illuminated by thoughtfully designed lighting.

To preserve the integrity of the historic ceilings, all new construction was intentionally held below the existing plasterwork, with uplighting enhancing the intricate details. The restrooms take inspiration from the opulence of the Gatsby era, featuring dark, rich finishes, brass accents, and bold black ceilings. In contrast, the bridal suite exudes elegance with light, bright textiles and tapestries, creating the perfect setting for a bride’s special day.

This transformation of the Power & Light Building’s lower levels into The Grand Hall establishes it as a premier wedding and event destination in Kansas City, blending historic grandeur with modern amenities.
