When a Las Vegas real estate developer and his family relocated to Kansas City, they quickly discovered the city’s unique offerings—including the opportunity to own acreage just 15 minutes from the urban core. After purchasing a picturesque 10-acre parcel near Kansas City International Airport, the family entrusted us to design a home that would reflect their vision and seamlessly integrate with the natural landscape. 

The owners desired a contemporary interpretation of a French farmhouse—one that would feel rooted in its surroundings while offering privacy and serenity. A 400-foot tree-lined driveway achieves this privacy, guiding guests to a circular drive and leading to an inner motor court for the family. The home is thoughtfully positioned along a hilltop, with a gentle bend in its plan that frames rearward views of a large, tranquil pond. 

A detached carriage house, situated across the motor court, includes ample office and video studio space above, offering a versatile workspace separate from the main home. Inside the primary residence, a central circulation spine organizes the layout, dividing the public and private spaces. To the left of the spine are the public areas, including an open kitchen, a defined dining area, and a vaulted great room that encourages connection and flow. To the right, the private sleeping spaces are arranged, with the primary suite offering a serene view of the pond and access to a small private deck. 

The lower level is designed for entertainment and comfort, featuring a wet bar, family den, hidden media room, and several additional bedrooms. Many of these spaces take advantage of the walk-out configuration, offering direct access to the backyard and surrounding property. 

The estate is rounded out with several recreational amenities, including a large barn for motorized toys, a half basketball court, and a built-in firepit—perfect for gatherings with family and friends.
