The Wornall Residence | A Classic Tudor Revived
Kansas City, MO
Located in the historic Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri, this project is a thoughtful reimagining of a classic Tudor-style home. Originally developed by the Hickok-Dible team in the mid-1920s, Brookside’s charming homes are highly sought after for their character and craftsmanship. However, by modern standards, these homes often feature smaller spaces and tighter lots.
For this renovation, the homeowners sought to create a primary bedroom suite that met contemporary expectations, improve the flow through the kitchen, and enhance the connection to their rear patio.
To achieve these goals, we transformed the upstairs by converting two smaller bedrooms into a luxurious primary suite. The new space features a vaulted ceiling, steam shower, freestanding tub, double vanity, and a spacious walk-in closet. On the main floor, we merged the dining room and kitchen to create a more open and functional layout, carefully preserving the home’s historic charm through matching millwork and proportionate design.
The final addition was a folding patio door in the living room, which dramatically improved access and flow to the rear covered patio and newly added pool, creating seamless indoor-outdoor living while maintaining the home’s timeless appeal.
